Koh Tao Restaurant Reviews
Koh Tao has a great variety of places to eat offering international cuisines and fusion blends. Here is a selection of Koh Tao restaurants we have reviewed.
Koh Tao has plenty of clothes shops at all three of the main beach areas: Mae Haad, Sairee and Chalok Baan Kao. Although most shops offer a similar choice of products and beachwear suited to island use, a few shops offer brands made by local designers and some international brands. You won’t have to go far to find things like shorts, tops and T-shirts, swimwear, flip-flops, beach towels, sarongs, sunglasses, hats, bags and beach games.
There are four big stores in Mae Haad where you can find all equipment and accessories for diving and snorkelling. Each of them is an authorized distributor for various brand names. Most of the large dive centres also have their own retail stores.
Need a book? Again, you won’t have to go far. You can buy brand new or second hand books, and trade or sell any you have finished with. Most bookshops also sell an English language newspaper.
Apart from local products, some popular imported goods (food items like pastas, energy bars, chips, spices and ingredients) are also available at a few stores. Alcohol and tobacco are provided in most supermarkets here. Sundries and necessary skin care products for the island such as sunscreen, tanning oil, after-sun lotion, coconut oil and insect repellent are also easily found. If you are staying longer and are in need of housewares or furniture and can’t find what you are looking for, some shops operate a catalogue ordering system.
Here you will find local foods and ingredients to cook your own dish, or buy some of the tropical fruit on offer. Some outlets also provide fresh organic vegetables and imported meats. Fruit is sold in some of the small shops on the roadside as well, and they can often cut them into pieces or blend them up to make a fresh fruit shake.
