Shalimar Indian Cuisine, Koh Tao

Shalimar Indian Cuisine   

Set in a tropical walled garden, the restaurant offers a unique and peaceful setting despite being located on the main road in Sairee. Shalimar, the only one Indian restaurant on Koh Tao, provides authentic Indian cuisine with an extensive menu of delicious food and friendly service in pleasant surrounds.

Recommended dishes include Tandoori chicken, palak paneer and butter chicken, there are also daily and afternoon specials. An enjoyable venue for all whether it’s for a meal or a cocktail in the sheesha lounge. Take away and delivery service.

Situated right on Sairee beach, Fizz offers a relaxing, laid back ambiance if you want to just sit and listen to the music with a cool drink or try one of the tasty dishes from the menu.

View Point Restaurant

The Cape Restaurant at View Point Resort   

Nestled west of Chalok Bay with 5 star food and a high class service that is hard to beat. Enveloped by a calming quietness, its gentle lighting ensures a relaxing atmosphere.

Specialising in French and Italian dishes with quality Thai dishes, the menu caters for the time of day and also has daily specials. Its patisserie is all made to order, many of which come with homemade jam.

From Whole Tuna out of the Oven to Filetto di Manzo (Australian Black Angus fillet with a red wine mushroom sauce), the mains make it difficult to choose. For a special drink try a carrot, chilli and pineapple juice. The food here just can’t be found elsewhere on the island.

Seaside Restaurant Koh Tao

Sea Side Restaurant, Koh Tao   

Finding a tranquil, beautiful setting on Sairee beach can be hard but Sea Side Restaurant has managed this superbly.

A fusion of Western and Thai cuisine with a choice of genuine Spanish and Thai tapas. Start with tapas, mushrooms with cheese and garlic, chicken croquettes and the obligatory Spanish omelette. Follow with your choice of main dish, try black spaghetti seafood with fried and garlic pepper or grilled pork ribs in BBQ sauce and roasted potatoes.

Located close to Sairee Beach on a quiet hilltop, Darawan offers a high class dining experience at superb prices. Enjoy a menu encompassing a worldwide cuisine, created using their own homegrown organic fruits and vegetables, complimented by specially selected wines. As a recommendation begin your meal with the grilled haloumi with petite basil, watermelon salad and balsamic reduction, followed by the chicken, bacon, avocado and roast pepper risotto. Bro & Sis Bar & Restaurant Koh Tao

Located next to the Lomprayah pier, Bro & Sis is a well built restaurant/bar which also plays live music that is perfectly suited to its beach-front location.

Offering a complete Thai menu along with breakfast, burgers, sandwiches and a huge cocktail selection you can relax on a sofa and enjoy your meal while listening to music or watching the sport on the large screen projector.

Try Kaow Kook Kapi for a different Thai taste or the creamy chicken soup along with fried broccoli and prawn.

La Pizzeria   

Koh Tao is home to many Western restaurants, but La Pizzeria is one not to be missed. The Italian owned restaurant located at the west end of Nay Pon Road is home to delicious pizzas and a variety of pastas.

Grab a seat outside or inside and choose from a wide selection of pizzas or build your own from the list of savoury toppings. For pastas, they have lasagna and homemade gnocchi as well as the classics, like spaghetti with meatballs.

The bustling Indie Café is located on the busy strip off Sairee Beach. With a modern coffee shop style, this café serves a variety of breakfast and lunch entrees and a surplus of drinks.

For those looking for healthier alternatives to the traditional backpacker fare, the Body Builder breakfast comes stacked with lean protein from an egg white scramble, grilled chicken breast and veggies. Fishbowl is one of the most famous and original Koh Tao beach front bars. With its perfectly situated location, you will find the best sunset view the island has to offer. Soak in the local beauty at one of their beach tables complete with Thai cushions and try one of their delicious passion fruit mojitos or a cider from their global selection.

They host a series of local live musical talent as well as internationally recognized DJs. During the evening the bar turns into one of the hottest nightclubs in town. Their staff are fun, friendly, and know how to show their guests a good time.

Rim Lae Restaurant – Koh Tao   

Rim Lae restaurant is located inside the private Koh Tao Cabana Resort, north of Sairee beach. You will be welcomed by the very friendly staff who will guide you to your table. Choose from their selection of tasty starters like fish fingers in wasabi sauce, then tuck into a main course or one of their daily specials. For something different, try the green tea rice or the rib-eye steak.

You will find it hard to leave the relaxed atmosphere, so enjoy an after dinner drink and take in the serene, private beach area watching the boats come and go. With its beautiful decor and location, Rim Lae is hard to match.

Farango Pizzeria – Koh Tao   

The long running and popular restaurant Farango in North Sairee offers a great choice of Italian inspired dishes. The food selection, which was designed by a French chef from a Michelin Guide restaurant, range from meat and cheese platters to homemade pastas as well as a nightly BBQ of fresh fish, meat, and vegetable entrees.

The pizzas are probably the most popular choice among diners, and have been for several years! Choose your own toppings or select one of the signature styles, like the Greek or Thai pizza.

Enjoy your meal with a cold beer or choose a glass of wine from the many choices on the menu.

Le Petit Palace  

The hipster style French-themed restaurant, Le Petit Palace, has a range of options catering to vegetarians, gluten free eaters, or for those who will try it all! Open for breakfast until late in the evening, you have plenty of options to dine upon. Le Petit Palace is known for the savory crepes – a French pancake filled with vegetables, egg, meats, or cheese. Le Popeye is a popular favourite – a crepe stuffed with spinach, cheese and topped with juicy fried chicken. You can also try the variety of tapas or the delicious homemade ice cream. After dining, finish off your evening at the DRUNK Bar located within for shots, beer cocktails, or wine.

Kame  

Welcome to Kame, a little piece of Japan in central Sairee. Tastefully decorated with Japanese décor, Kame caters to those who want more than standard sushi rolls. The restaurant has an impressive selection of Japanese food – ranging from lighter fare such edamame, seaweed, and seasoned tofu to main courses like sashimi bowls, beef curry, and stewed pork belly. Some popular dishes the restaurant serves is the perfectly grilled saba fish and the tuna or salmon set, which comes with sashimi, nigari, and maki rolls. There is also a good selection of cold Thai and Japanese beers and sake served to accompany your meal.




Oishi Kaiso Restaurant   

Serving a fine selection of Japanese dishes, including delicious sake (rice wine), Oishi Kaiso prepare their dishes with care and wonderful presentation.

For a refreshing start to your meal, experience the wakame (seaweed) salad with a sprinkling of white and black sesame seeds or deliciously crispy gyoza (fried pork dumpling).

With your appetite teased, tuck into a pork tonkatsu (deep fried in breadcrumbs) or a yakitori (chicken kebab) and finish off with one of their sushi selections. Simple but delicious.

A well established restaurant offering an extensive menu including a wide range of authentic French and Italian dishes devised by the chef who is also the owner.

With homemade pastas, pizzas, breads and more, this friendly and relaxed restaurant is a popular choice for all. There is also a good selection of wine available.

Located centrally in Mae Haad, close to the port, it’s open all day for breakfast, lunch and dinner and everything in between. Everyone welcome, great venue for families and groups. Friendly service and reasonable prices. Take away and delivery available.

Coffee House   

Coffee House is a mere 20 metres from the pier and will welcome you to Koh Tao with its relaxing atmosphere cocooning you from the hustle and bustle of Mae Haad.

Coffee House makes its own organic coffee where you will find all the usual blends as you would expect. You can even buy a packet of your own to enjoy at your leisure. Supporting local business and traders, this is no major coffee chain.

Delicious sandwiches to enjoy as you relax and you can follow this up with one of their dangerously delicious cakes! Daily pie specials and even homemade crumpets made to order, Coffee House welcomes you inside.

Try out the homemade pasta and house specials for a real treat, or sit and enjoy a glass of wine and watch the world go by. An ideal venue for a quiet meal for two or larger groups. The Terrace at Jamahkiri   

With its stunning sea views and beautiful atmosphere, The Terrace is the perfect place to indulge in a little fine dining. Their menu includes a wonderful selection of western dishes along with a variety of traditional Thai cuisine. Try their succulent roasted duck or melt in your mouth red snapper as your main course.

Accompany your meal with a wine from their extensive cellar or book their VIP room for a proper wine tasting. Their staff are friendly and quick to take care of your needs. If you don’t feel like driving, you can book their taxi for pick up and drop off.

The Hacienda Bar & Grill   

Set amid a large well kept garden, The Hacienda is on the main road between Mae Haad and Chalok Baan Kao and is in the grounds of the Koh Tao Leisure Park so it’s a great place to come to combine a meal with a spot of sporting fun!

On offer is a wide variety of dishes from homemade pies and tasty chilli to ‘design your own’ salads and the unique Hacienda deep pan pizzas. There is also a delicious Mexican menu to choose from and all at very reasonable prices.

You can even organize your own BBQ for a group occasion. Good, friendly service with a happy and relaxed atmosphere.




The Fin  

The Fin is a new restaurant found on the main road after Mae Haad. The restaurant has a wide selection of Thai food, like Pad Thai to rich curries, and also has some Western dishes. However, the restaurant is best known for their shabu-shabu – Japanese hotpot. The hotpot is placed on your table with a pot full of two types of soup – mild and spicy. You order a platter of thinly sliced chicken, pork, bacon, beef, or shrimp and simmer it right at your table. Create your own perfect mix of soup by mixing in vegetables and other sauces. Enjoy your new creation with a fruit shake or Italian soda or a cocktail at the bar.
