This is a 2.8 km hike that will take approximately 1 1⁄4 hours. The road to Laem Thian (A) is mainly a washed away dirt track. As you are hiking, look around, you may see a Nicobar pigeon on the ground or a green imperial pigeon in the trees here. About 700 m before you get to Laem Thian, there is a small trail on the left near a big mango tree (B), this goes to Mao Bay (C). This 300 m trail becomes very narrow and bushy while going downhill to the bay. There is a waterway with large boulders and a huge Pandanus tectorius tree just before you get there. Mao Bay is one of a few secluded places where there are no buildings or people staying.

This route takes you along the coastline from the southwest to the south of Koh Tao. It’s a fairly easy hike that will take you to seven beaches, each one only 500 – 700 m from the next. It starts at Charm Churee Villa parking and takes you to Sai Nuan Beach along a small well built concrete path. It is suitable for all ages, though there are quite a few steps. From Sai Nuan there is a 700 m dirt road over a small hill to take you to Cape Je Ta Kang. About 50 m before you reach the steps down to this Cape, there is a small turning on the left to June Juea Bay. This 600 m long trail will pass Tao Thong 2 Villa and a small green hill with lots of cycads, then it goes on to June Juea Bay through Sunset Bungalows. The road behind June Juea Bay continues on to View Point Resort, Saan Jao Bay and finally to Chalok Baan Kao Bay.
