Koh Tao
Koh Tao boasts stunning coral reefs and abundant marine life, combined with a relaxed lifestyle, making it an unforgettable destination for thousands of visitors per year.
Whether you need to stock up on sun lotion, buy a coconut necklace or get the latest model underwater camera, Koh Tao shopping stores can supply almost all of your demands. For this convenience, please be aware that prices here are higher than on the mainland due to high transportation costs, storage and the cost of living.
Koh Tao has plenty of clothes shops in three main beach areas: Mae Haad, Sairee Beach and Chalok Baan Kao. Although most shops offer a similar choice of products and beachwear suited to island use, a few shops offer brands made by local designers and some international brands. You won’t have to go far to find things like shorts, tops and T-shirts, swimwear, flip-flops, beach towels, sarongs, sunglasses, hats and bags.
There are four diving equipment stores in Mae Haad Bay where you can find all equipment and accessories for diving and snorkeling. Each is an authorized distributor for brands such as Mares, Scuba Pro, Cressi Sub, Aqua Lung, Omer, Suunto, Beuchat, Tusa, Gull etc. Most of the large diving schools on Koh Tao also have their own retail stores.
Apart from local products, some popular imported goods (food items like pasta, energy bars, chips, spices and ingredients) are also available at a few stores on Koh Tao. Alcohol and tobacco are provided in most supermarkets here. Necessary skin care products for the island, such as sunscreen, tanning oil, after-sun lotion, coconut oil and insect repellent, are also easily found. If you are staying longer and need housewares or furniture and can’t find what you are looking for, some Koh Tao shopping stores operate a catalogue ordering system.
Here you will find local foods and ingredients to cook your own dish, or buy some tropical fruit. Some shops on Koh Tao also provide fresh organic vegetables and imported meats. Fruit is sold in some of the small shops on the roadside, and they can often cut them into pieces or blend them up to make a fresh fruit shake.
