If you are interested in this field, either as a hobby or career, Koh Tao Thailand is a great place to start. With ideal sea conditions and abundant marine life, there is always plenty to see, as well as Koh Tao has a big diving industry with good training opportunities and maybe long-term work. There are four schools on Koh Tao, all with Western management and instruction.
Muay Thai (Thai Boxing)
Experience and learn the traditional martial art of Thailand. The practice, over 700 years old, involves studies on using fists, elbows, knees, soles, palms and the whole body in combat. Muay Thai training can be for self-defence or to strengthen the body. Courses for both men and women are offered from beginner to professional.
Thai Cooking Classes
Thai dishes on Koh Tao are often adapted slightly to suit the mild tastes of the visitors here. If you want to learn how to cook authentic Thai cuisine, several resorts and restaurants offer classes. You can learn how to recreate your favourite dishes such as Tom Yam, Massaman curry, Pad Thai, deep-fried spring rolls and ‘banana in coconut milk’ or ‘mango with sticky rice’. The lessons will introduce you to Thai ingredients and shopping in the local markets, and learn some of their secret recipes.
Learning The Thai Language
Gain a better understanding of Thai culture and people by learning to speak the language with native Thai-speaking teachers. Koh Tao is a great place to learn, and locals are friendly and often have time to talk for you to practice your conversational skills.
