Do you know what A.W.A.R.E. stands for? Aquatic World Awareness Responsibility and Education. A non-diving course, the Project AWARE Specialty Program is designed to familiarize individuals with our worldwide aquatic ecosystems and describes ways to help protect these resources. It focuses on pertinent issues including fisheries, coastal zone management and marine pollution concerns.
This program promotes awareness to both non-divers and divers with regards to pollution on land, beaches and oceans. The goal is to create changes in attitudes and behaviors so that we can rethink, reduce, reuse and recycle the mess that has been created. Through land and underwater clean-ups everyone is able to contribute to this good cause.

You’ll learn more about the important role sharks play in local economies through fishing and as an attraction to dive tourists. It focuses on educating divers and non-divers about the declining shark populations, and their value to marine ecosystems and economies.
