Koh Tao
Koh Tao, a small paradise island in the Gulf of Thailand, is renowned as a world-class diving destination, with crystal-clear seas, abundant marine life, beautiful beaches, and a relaxed lifestyle.
The Koh Tao Ecological Monitoring Program (EMP), a PADI Distinctive Specialty Course based on Koh Tao, is designed to give experienced divers an opportunity to learn about coral reefs, perform reef checks and add to data used to monitor Koh Tao’s coral reefs. The duration of this Koh Tao Eco program is 4 days. During this course, you will learn more about the type of fish and invertebrate species that inhabit our abundant reef systems. You will also gain valuable experience to help improve your buoyancy and navigational skills, which will ultimately lessen your negative impact while scuba diving atop this fragile environment.
Do you know what A.W.A.R.E. stands for? Aquatic World Awareness Responsibility and Education. The Project AWARE Specialty Program is a non-diving course designed to familiarize individuals with our worldwide aquatic ecosystems and describes ways to help protect these resources. It focuses on pertinent issues, including fisheries, coastal zone management and marine pollution concerns.
This PADI Specialty program promotes awareness to both non-divers and divers with regard to pollution on land, beaches and oceans. The goal is to create changes in attitudes and behaviours so that we can rethink, reduce, reuse and recycle the mess that has been created. Through land and underwater clean-ups, everyone is able to contribute to this good cause.

This program discusses how crucial sharks are to our marine ecosystems largely because they maintain the balance in populations and help keep the ocean healthy. You’ll learn more about the important role sharks play in local economies through fishing and as an attraction to dive tourists. It focuses on educating divers and non-divers about the declining shark populations and their value to marine ecosystems and economies. This program also helps to dispel misperceptions that may block anyone from taking action to preserve the shark community.
