Koh Tao
Koh Tao boasts stunning coral reefs and abundant marine life, combined with a relaxed lifestyle, making it an unforgettable destination for thousands of visitors per year.
Most of the roads on Koh Tao have been cut through and around hills and mountains. To cycling Koh Tao, there are quite a few steep climbs, but luckily they are fairly short.
If you are staying a while and just want to use a bicycle to get around, we recommend staying in the Chalok Baan Kao or Mae Haad areas, as the roads are flatter and away from heavy traffic.Try cycling Koh Tao through this route which visits 3 main beaches and one viewpoint. Cycle from Chalok Baan Kao to Mae Haad along the main road, turning left at Koh Tao Temple to join the brick road which stretches along Sairee Beach. At Sairee junction turn left back onto the main road. Follow this new road and climb a couple of short hills to the north end of Koh Tao, then reward yourself with a fantastic lookout of Koh Nang Yuan.
Several challenging dirt roads await you in the hilly southeast of Koh Tao, giving you everything from a cardio workout to adrenaline and endorphin pumping action. Extreme Koh Tao mountain biking trails to check out are around Tanote, Reservoir, Two View, Laem Thian and Grape Viewpoint. The terrain is mainly loose pebbles over a hard surface. Also, some parts of the trail are heavily washed away, making pedaling almost impossible; in these places, just lift your bike and climb across or make a U-turn.
