Welcome to New Heaven Dive School – Koh Tao

a family-owned scuba diving and freediving school established in 1995.
New Heaven Dive School has accommodation in two different locations on Koh Tao. The first one is in Chalok Baan Kao Bay that offers beachfront rooms with both air-conditioning and fan options. In addition to those rooms, there are also mixed-gender air-conditioned dorms with shared bathrooms. The location also has Koppee Restaurant, which serves coffee, pastries, Western and Thai dishes throughout the day. The second location is called Baan Talay on the southeast side of the island. This location offers traditional Thai-style bungalows with air-conditioning on the hillside with a sea view. The restaurant serves Western and Thai dishes but is well-known around the island for their traditional Thai lunch. Baan Talay is also close to excellent snorkelling as well.

New Heaven Dive School is SSI affiliated and offers courses from Open Water through professional dive guide training. The classes are limited to four people per group and the predominantly taught languages are English, French, and Thai, but other language-instruction can be requested. Confined dive training is done in shallow bays, and all training and fun dives are done off of their private boat. New Heaven goes on one dive trip a day, offering two dives at different locations. They leave a bit later in the morning. This allows the divers to go to places that have fewer crowds. In addition to scuba, there are 3-day RAID freediving courses, combined with yoga training that enhances breathing and awareness techniques.

While travellers can learn how to scuba dive or freedive at New Heaven, this dive school is widely known for their research-based conservation and preservation efforts and training. If you are an advanced diver, you can join on their training courses with a marine biologist about coral restoration, invertebrate and fish identification. These courses can take one day or as long as 3-months. A 1-month internship grants the internationally recognised certification ‘Conservation Diver’ upon completion. However, no matter which course is taken, New Heaven Dive School’s teaching approach is always ecological aware and preservation focused.
